Training Required: 

  • Music Together online Teacher Training (live via Zoom provided by Music Together Worldwide). 
  • Apprenticeship in a currently running class. Apprenticeship includes attending class, observation, leading songs and activities, and debriefing with the class teacher.  

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for people who are competent singers and movers and are comfortable leading singing groups and large movement activities with adults and young children. 
  • Happy, positive, glass-half-full attitude a must
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Organized and on top of adminstrative tasks 
  • Able to sing in tune without accompaniment and strong voice that can lead a large group
  • Able to move and dance with accurate rhythm including the ability to lead lightly choreographed dances
  • Experience working with young children (child development knowledge a plus) & confidence leading a group of adults
  • Comfortable in an informal learning environment

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching weekly Music Together classes to mixed age groups of children (0-5) and their families 
  • Effectively execute the Music Together curriculum and educate families about the developmental benefits of music making in the home environment
  • Organize and practice weekly lesson plans
  • Learn new music each session (Music Together is a 3 year cyclical program including over 225 songs and chants)
  • Create a trusting relationship with parents and children
  • Participation at Waterfront Music Play Center community events
  • Subbing classes when needed
  • Basic administrative duties related to teaching (i.e. Attendance, CD and Songbook distribution, communication with families, canceling classes)
  • Promotion of classes in the local community
